Dance Xpressions has a rich history of training dancers in the Dallas-Forth Worth area. We were established in 1987 in a small shopping center in Lancaster, Texas under the direction of Shelly Wilson. Back then, we were called Lancaster Dance Academy. We started as a small program with less than 100 students. In 1995, Cathy (Harris) Isaacks, took over as director and the program continued to grow. In 2006, we ran out of growing room in the old facility. That’s when Mrs. Isaacks found a space in Red Oak for a brand new dance studio in Ellis County. In 2006, we opened our current facility under the banner Dance Xpressions. In 2010, Katherine (Smith) Jones, a Lancaster Dance Academy Alumni, took over as director. She was a student to both Shelly Wilson and Cathy (Harris) Isaacks. In the summer of 2018 Maggie Cryer, also a Lancaster Dance Academy Alumni and former student of the Academy, who trained under Ms. Cathy and Ms. Katherine, took over as owner. Ms. Maggie takes pride in upholding the traditions and values of Dance Xpressions. For her, this is not just a job- it is a dream come true!
In 2014, we began competing regionally with our group, Dance Xpressions Elite (DXE). This performance and competition team participates in community event performances, parades, conventions and dance competitions.
